Factors Affecting Chain Life:
All of the following factors can negatively affect chain life: | • | Steel Reinforcing...many pieces or large diameter rebar causes reduced life. | | • | Aggregate Hardness...harder aggregates cause reduced life. | | • | Operator Experience...first time users generally get less chain life. | Cutting Tips to Improve Chain life: | • | Use minimum 20 psi water pressure. | | • | Always cut at full throttle. Slowly plunge straight into wall. Push hard enough to cause the RPM's to drop by 25-30%. Always apply STEADY feed force. | | • | SLOWLY rock the bar and chain in the cut using Wallwalker® as pry point. | | • | Reduce arm motions. Hold saw close to body and use legs and body to apply feed force. Always cut between shoulders and knees, preferably at waist high. | | • | If the saw begins to drift off the intended cut line, pull out and restart the cut. |

For this example, 8 inches. - Determine the length of the cut in feet.
